Comedy Show "Republic in the New Year"

The New Year is relentless! It pays no heed to global warming, doesn't delve into Cabinet regulations, refrains from political intrigues, and turns a blind eye to the twists and turns of ordinary people's lives. The New Year has only two reference points: December 31 and January 1. Yet, all of us—the people of our own republic—are wedded to these dates, dividing our lives into two phases: the frantic rush up to December 31 and a fresh start from January 1. New Year's Eve itself, in this eternal cycle, is merely a luxurious stopover where the bus, train, or airplane of life pauses for about 8 hours.

After a several-year hiatus, the highly popular humor evenings return to the theater club “Austrumu Robeža” with an exclusive and musical New Year's program on the aforementioned theme. Through short, engaging sketches and musical numbers, we will collectively laugh at our race to the New Year, the New Year's night itself, and the beginning of a new life—coming to our senses on January 1, or sometimes January 2.

The humor evening “Republic in the New Year” is crafted by the same creative core that produced the previous humor evenings in the series “Our Own Republic”—Kārlis Anitens, Anna Šteina, and Zane Vaļicka (incidentally, their vocal phonogram ensemble will also perform in this program). And, of course, this creative nucleus has drawn in its sparkling atomic mass the wonderful colleagues—Zane Burnicka, Reinis Rešetins, Madars Zvagulis. This sextet from the theater club “Austrumu Robeža” has been together for many years and has brought smiles and laughter to thousands of theatergoers.

This is the third and final work in the trilogy "The Bus. The Train. The Plane" created by Kārlis Anitens and his creative team at the theater club "Austrumu robeža" from 2022 to 2025.
