Candlestick

In 2023, while collaborating with lighting artist Oskars Pauliņš, video artist Toms Zeļģis, actors Inga Misāne-Grasberga and Gundars Grasbergs, and the technical company "Full Stage" to create what was, to date, Latvia's most impressive light performance "Lāčplēsis" at the Likteņdārzs, my story with concrete candles began—initially in partnership with candle artisan Elīna Muceniece. The emotions from this monumental production and the events surrounding it still resonate deeply within me, so it is only natural that one of my candle collections is dedicated to "Lāčplēsis." Among all the epic's characters, Spīdala strikes me as the most intriguing. Mysterious, witch-like, dark and light simultaneously, noticeable and capable of transformation—my interpretation of Spīdala now continues to live on in this fiery collection of concrete containers.
